Peter Levy’s perspective on practicing law, and the practical approach he brings to business solutions are unique. Through his 30 plus years of experience as a public company CEO, COO, and attorney, Peter brings value as a collaborative partner who helps clients strike the optimal balance between the legal, strategic, economic and ethical considerations during their decision-making process. His clients have included prominent entrepreneurs, multi-generational family businesses and Fortune 500 companies.
Peter has diverse experience in M&A and joint venture transactions, corporate governance, business planning, employment law, succession planning, manufacturing, distribution, export regulations, publishing, entertainment law, advertising law, telecommunications, technology licensing and securities law. As Chair of the firm’s Life Sciences practice, Peter assists pharmaceutical, biotech, medical device, and food technology companies launch their products and comply with FDA, FTC and other government regulations. He also leads the emerging markets practice, which leverages resources across the firm to help new technologies and new industries succeed in the marketplace.
Over his career, Peter has spearheaded complex transactions involving AT&T, HP, RR Donnelly, EF Hutton, New York Hospital, Wakefern, Dell and other major corporations. Peter has advised on the sale of a number of large, closely held businesses. Peter also served as legal counsel for the first affinity credit card managing the largest credit card launch in U.S. history. He is proud to serve as U.S. legal counsel for HRA Pharma (a Perrigo company) whose ground-breaking launch of the first U.S. over-the-counter birth control pill will occur in 2024.
Prior to joining the firm, Peter spent 12 years as a partner at a regional accounting firm. Before that, he served as the Chief Operating Officer of two different public companies, as well as the President and Chief Executive Officer of a pharmaceutical company which he successfully positioned on the NASDAQ stock exchange. Earlier in his career, he was appointed by the SEC to be the first Integrity Monitor for the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York; and served as the Deputy Chief for Internal Controls for the construction of the $4 billion Freedom Tower in New York City.
Community service is a cornerstone of Peter’s life. For over 30 years he has been a board member and Senior Corporate Liaison to Easter Seals Camp ASCCA, America’s flagship camp for people with physical and intellectual disabilities. He is also the co-builder of the Roswal-Levy Tower, the world’s largest wheelchair-accessible climbing tower for the disabled. For more than a decade, Peter has also been on the board of Hamp’s Camp, a charity founded by former New York Giants running back Rodney Hampton, which provides leadership tools to underprivileged children in Atlanta, Newark and Houston.
Peter is the author of Corporate Topography TM , a leading strategic planning tool. He speaks on emerging technology business processes, board governance, and integrity on behalf of companies and at numerous board retreats.
Peter has been named a Force For Change Honoree by Leading Women Entrepreneurs. This award honors some of New Jersey’s most innovative leaders of the next decade.
Peter has been awarded the Easter Seals Continuous Meritorious Service Award on four separate occasions, most recently for 2022. He is also the recipient of the New Jersey Law Journal’s 2023 New Jersey Legal Award honoring him for his work as a Mentor.
