Charles Butrico brings trial and advocacy experience to his representation of individuals and organizations in complex criminal, tax, and estate matters, drawing on his background as a Marine Corps Officer and Staff Judge Advocate.

Charles J. Butrico is an associate in the Firm’s Litigation and Tax, Trusts, and Estates Practice Groups. He is a former Marine Corps Officer who served as a Staff Judge Advocate and Defense Counsel. As a Staff Judge Advocate, he advised Generals on a breadth of topics ranging from criminal investigations to ethical questions, as well as financial reporting requirements. As a Defense Counsel, Charles defended Marines and Sailors accused of crimes under the Uniform Code of Military Justice.

He is an experienced trial attorney who has successfully litigated and supervised dozens of complex federal felony and misdemeanor level crimes ranging from sexual assaults to child abuse and neglect. Charles is able to leverages his experience to communicate clearly and effectively, spot weaknesses in opposing arguments, and strategically advocate for his clients in a host of civil and criminal disputes.

He earned his J.D. and L.L.M. in Tax Law from Villanova University, and his B.A. in Mathematics from Boston College. He is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania as well as in the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.
