Paul S. Werther in a Partner in Mandelbaum Barrett PC’s Real Estate Practice Group. He has extensive experience in business/commercial/financial negotiations and transactions, real estate development and complex commercial litigation, including workouts on behalf of financial institutions. Paul has over 30 years of experience counseling a variety of successful entrepreneurs, privately held companies and real estate developers in connection with general business transactions, due diligence, contract negotiations, purchase and sale agreements, financings, real estate development and redevelopment, urban renewal and land use.
Paul has been involved in some of the largest development and redevelopment projects in New Jersey, including the former Marine Ocean Terminal – Bayonne, the Hoboken Terminal and Rail Yard, Giants Stadium and Trump National Golf Club – Bedminster, various shopping centers and other commercial properties, office complexes, industrial sites, marinas and residential development. In this capacity, on behalf of both public and private clients, he has been extensively involved in all phases of the development projects from the initial analysis and investigation concerning the feasibility of the project, to studies concerning areas in need of redevelopment and land use issues, to project proposals, permitting and development contracts, through project completion including transactional leasing and litigation. Also, he has acted on behalf of the owner to coordinate and direct the planning, financing and build out phases of several projects.
In addition to his real estate and development practice, Paul has provided counsel and participated in the management of several successful companies, including a private jet charter and FBO, food importer, food store chain, equipment manufacturer, a healthcare GPO, a technology company and several start-up companies. On behalf of many of these companies he has managed the litigation of several matters in the United States District Court, District of New Jersey as well as state courts in New Jersey.
In 2014, Paul was appointed to serve on the United States District Court, District of New Jersey Panel of Mediators and has mediated over 50 cases.
Paul was an author (for NJ Law) of Franchise Desk Book: Selected State Laws, Commentary and Annotations, pub. ABA Forum on Franchising, 1996, 2001.
