Jon Fallon

With more than 20 years of experience, Jon Fallon advises businesses, entrepreneurs, and innovators on intellectual property protection, portfolio management, technology transactions, and IP enforcement.

Jon Fallon is a Partner in Mandelbaum Barrett PC’s Intellectual Property practice. A registered patent attorney with the United States Patent and Trademark Office, he leverages his engineering background and experience as both outside counsel and in-house general counsel to help clients navigate complex intellectual property and technology-related matters. He counsels businesses nationwide on protecting, commercializing, and maximizing the value of their innovations.

Jon represents clients throughout the United States in a broad range of intellectual property matters, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade dress, unfair competition, trade secrets, licensing, and technology agreements. He works closely with clients to develop intellectual property strategies, safeguard new products and brands, structure commercial arrangements, and align legal protections with business objectives.

His practice includes the preparation and prosecution of U.S. and foreign patent, trademark, and copyright applications; intellectual property litigation and appeals; Patent Trial and Appeal Board proceedings; intellectual property due diligence in mergers and acquisitions; and the preparation of legal opinions concerning patentability, clearance, registrability, infringement, validity, and enforceability. He also advises clients on intellectual property valuation, portfolio assessments, domain-name disputes, and licensing, software development, confidentiality, assignment, consent, and other commercial agreements.

Jon has substantial experience preparing and prosecuting patent applications across a wide range of technologies, including mechanical systems and devices, software and computer technologies, video and wager game play mechanics, electronics, computer networks, semiconductor manufacturing, manufacturing equipment, consumer products, chemical compounds, polymers, nutraceuticals, and business methods. His technical background enables him to quickly understand complex innovations and collaborate effectively with inventors, engineers, executives, and business teams.

In addition to his intellectual property practice, Jon brings significant in-house and corporate experience to his client relationships. Before joining Mandelbaum Barrett PC, he founded and managed his own law practice and previously spent nearly a decade serving as General Counsel to a multinational gaming company, where he oversaw a wide range of legal and business matters and managed a legal team. This experience gives him a practical understanding of the challenges facing business owners and corporate legal departments and informs his strategic approach to client service.

His broader experience includes negotiating complex business-to-business agreements, advising on corporate and commercial transactions, employment and corporate governance matters, lease agreements, executive employment agreements, and regulatory compliance issues. He has also counseled companies operating in highly regulated industries, including the gaming industry, on licensing and compliance requirements. This diverse background allows Jon to evaluate legal issues through both legal and business lenses, helping clients make informed decisions that support their long-term goals.

Jon earned his J.D. from Franklin Pierce Law Center, now the University of New Hampshire Franklin Pierce School of Law, in Concord, New Hampshire. He earned his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from The Pennsylvania State University, where his coursework and undergraduate research focused on fluid dynamics, including computational fluid dynamics (CFD), as well as thermodynamics and heat-transfer processes involving electronic packaging equipment.

Jon is a member of the American Bar Association (ABA) and the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA).
