Joshua S. Bauchner, partner and Chair of Mandelbaum Barrett PC’s Cannabis, Hemp & Psychedelics practice, has been named Chair of the Cannabis Chamber of Commerce’s Northeast Region, covering New England, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, and D.C. It’s a region where the rules are constantly changing, enforcement can vary wildly by jurisdiction, and getting it right matters just as much as moving fast.

Josh is well known across the cannabis and hemp space for helping operators, investors, and trade groups navigate licensing, compliance, and enforcement when the regulatory ground keeps shifting. His work spans the full lifecycle of a business, from early licensing strategy to litigation and policy advocacy, with a focus on practical solutions that work in the real world, not just on paper. “Josh’s appointment reflects both his deep subject-matter knowledge and his longstanding commitment to the responsible advancement of the cannabis industry,” said Mandelbaum Barrett CEO William S. Barrett. “He brings a thoughtful, solutions-oriented approach that will serve the Chamber and its members well as the Northeast market continues to evolve.”

Beyond regulatory work, Josh is also a seasoned litigator, with precedent-setting wins like the Super Smoke N Save case, which helped rein in warrantless enforcement actions and strengthened Fourth Amendment protections for hemp and cannabis businesses. He’s a frequent speaker on cannabis law and policy and a regular voice in national legal and business publications. “We are proud and excited to have Josh involved as a key leader in our organization,” said Chris Boudreau, Executive Director of the Chamber. “His leadership, steep cannabis experience, and tireless commitment to the industry bring tremendous value.”

“I’m honored to take on this role at such a critical time for the industry,” Josh said. “The Northeast region presents both tremendous opportunity and unique challenges, and I look forward to working with the Chamber’s leadership and members to help move the industry forward in a responsible and inclusive way.”
